Note-taking practices are generally ineffective
People often use notes as buckets for storage or scratch thoughts. These are nice to write, but ultimately (mostly) ineffective, as they are dissociated piles that don’t add up to anything.
While “fleeting notes” are a valuable aid to working memory, they should really only be considered as the seeds for growing more permanent, neat, evergreen notes.
Another reason these general practices don’t work well is because Note-taking provides weak feedback.
