Controversy around snap

It looks like the newest Ubuntu 20.04 LTS release starts to dig into snap reliance a bit more than the past, and many users find this problematic. One particular reason is that, while installing Snap packages may be easy, they forcibly auto-update. I’ve seen that you literally cannot prevent a Snap package from updating at some point in time, similar to Windows. This is pretty insane considering control over your packages and versions is one of the main selling points of using a Linux distro in the first place.

Additionally, it appears many users find Snap packages to be much slower than their .deb counterparts. This is a big downside.
